Soursop, also known as Graviola, is an exotic fruit with a taste similar to pineapple and strawberry. Despite its taste, the fruit possesses incredible health benefits which is why all parts of it were used to treat health problems for centuries. Today, we’re going to focus on the properties of its leaves.
Strengthen the immune system
If you’re suffering from colds and the flu often, your immune system is probably compromised and weakened. Luckily for you, a simple soursop leaves tea can reinforce it and prevent seasonal diseases as well as other health problems.
Gout is an inflammatory condition which affects the joints of the hands and feet. If you’re suffering from it don’t worry – consuming a tea made from soursop leaves can help the body eliminate excess uric acid from the blood and effectively stop the condition.
Treat urinary tract infections
Urinary tract infections are caused by bacterial infections in the kidneys, urethra or bladder. As soursop leaves have powerful antibacterial properties, their regular consumption will treat and prevent urinary tract infections as well.
Rheumatism is a painful condition which affects the joints and muscles and is often treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. However, instead of using NSAIDs, you can try soursop leaves tea which has anti-inflammatory properties and can treat the condition easily. Boil a handful of leaves in water, then mash them and make a bandage which should be applied on the painful areas.
Soursop leaves are very effective against eczema – they don’t have the adverse side-effects of topical steroids and the anti-inflammatory properties will treat the condition naturally. Apply a bandage with soursop leaves on the affected area and the condition will soon be gone.
The best benefit soursop leaves can offer are their anticancer properties which are sadly not yet scientifically proven. However, medical experts claim that the leaves are 1000 times more effective than chemotherapy, and don’t have any adverse side-effects. They are specifically effective against lung, breast and prostate cancer.
Chop a handful of soursop leaves, then add them in 3 cups of water and boil the mixture in a pot. Once 2/3 of the mixture evaporates, take the pot off heat, leave the mixture to cool down, then strain and drink it.
